An Eye Opening Experience
Saturday, August 6, 2011 at 1:28AM

The last two weeks of school, I taught a class of teenagers how to sculpt using self hardening clay. It was a typical teen workshop with one exception. The students were blind. Executed at the South Carolina School for the Deaf and the Blind, these students used a modeling skull as well as my face to create an impressionistic bust. The results were fantastic just as I suspected. I hope to repeat this class in the fall to address other details of the face. So the next time you have an artistic challenge, think again.
