How to Become A Rockstar

Twelve years ago I decided that I was going to be a professional artist and thought filling out a resume' on http://monster.com would give me the edge and exposure I needed. It asked me what my ultimate job was. I answered that I would like to paint murals all over the region, set my own hours, have a gallery to exhibit my work, and a studio to work and teach in. Well, obviously after reading my profile, I thought that everyone who read my ultimate job description would think I was a nut job and surely not consider hiring me. Later that week, a man came into the restaurant where I was working and started painting a mural. I saw the golden door of opportunity open and I stormed the gate like a herd of wild bulls. His name was Thomas Parham, and he would spend the next eight years molding me into the artist I would become. He eventually hired me because I wouldn't leave him alone. One thing led to another and I eventually created the very job that I had described in the profile. In today's world, creating your own job is easier than applying for a job that a hundred other people are qualified for. Granted, it's a lot of hard work. But what's more worth the time? Making someone else successful, or yourself? The one thing in life you can count on is that you never know. So to anyone who may think it's impossible to make a living as an artist I will say, it isn't easy, but it can be done. I know, I'm doing it!
